GREEN CARNATION (Norway)
GREEN CARNATION was formed in 1990 by X-Botteri, Cristopher Botteri, Tchort and Anders Kobro. They released a Death Metal demo in 1991/1992 called "Hallucinations Of Despair" which was sold in 400 copies. Tchort left the band in late 1992 to join Norwegian Black Metallers Emperor. With him, the current vocalist, Richart Olsen, also decided to leave the band. GREEN CARNATON found a new vocalist and changed their style and name into what is now known as In The Woods...
Through friendship and the wish to fullfill the dreams and goal of GREEN CARNATION when started, we decided to reform the band and achieve the goals we had set, 8 years ago. November 1998 the band was reformed, but with a new drummer, Alf T Leangel. The process of writing music for the debut album was both inspiring and brought forth creativity long gone within Tchort, since the death of his daughter, a subject that also became the concept of the bands first album. Tchort and X-Botteri started composing music together, in addition to the ideas they had on making their "own" songs for the album. Writing music together was also a challenge they had looked forward to since the beginning of the band.
July 1999, GREEN CARNATION started recording their debut album "Journey To The End Of The Night" in Jailhouse studios, located in Kristiansand, Norway. All participation from the five different vocalists, Vibeke Stene, Atle Dorum, Geir Sollid, Synne Soprana and Linn Solaas happened under difficult circumstances, since the two original vocalists had canceled the recordings, while GREEN CARNATION were in studio. All vocals were excellent performed by the five mentioned vocalists, under total improvisation. "Journey To The End Of The Night" was released in October 2000, when the band signed a contract with Prophecy Productions.
Since GREEN CARNATION is so different from anything Tchort has done before, he has decided to run the line out and has written the whole next album entitled "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness", an album consisting of an one hour-long song, containing more metal and more variation and also adding new styles and elements. GREEN CARNATION is also proud to present to new members in the line up, as an approach towards future live shows with the band. The new musicians are Anders Kobro on drums and Börn Harstad on guitar.
