TODESBONDEN "Sleep Now, Quiet Forest" out by the end of June - 2008/06/12

From Maryland's far woods, a dreamy ensemble shyly steps into daylight for the first time: TODESBONDEN. As a follow-up to an EP, "Sleep Now, Quiet Forest" marks the debut of this American quintet, showcasing their proclivities in a magical way: melancholic, hazy Metal is the basic frame of some pieces, calling to mind the gems of early 3rd And The Mortal or The Gathering.
But "Sleep Now, Quiet Forest" is more than just an atmospheric Metal release; it is a mystical journey into Celtic melodies, folksy moments, tender Pop arrangements, oriental influences, and monument neo-Classical reminiscences, inimitably enveloping the listeners in a feeling of warmth and shelter, but also of an ever-present melancholy.
With her fragile voice, Autumn Tears singer Laurie Ann Haus lends delicate emotions to tracks that come alive with Celtic fiddle melodies, woodwinds, opalescent piano parts, and heavenly cembalo sounds, painting pictures of ages gone by. The young group's lyrics are equally lost in thought and elegiac as their beguiling sounds, they invite us to travel to different eras: Ancient Egypt arises from the dust of times, as does the tragic history of Marie Antoinette, all of this rendered by appropriate musical settings of course. Magical bard A. Tolonen (Nest, Agalloch) lends an unmistakably Finnish air to the title track with his kantele playing.
With these eleven songs, TODESBONDEN fascinate us and create a work somewhere between Dead Can Dance, 3rd And The Mortal and Loreena McKennitt, far surpassing the horizons of Metal.
"Sleep Now, Quiet Forest" will be out on June 20, 2008 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on June 23 in the rest of Europe, and on June 24 in North America.

AUTUMNBLAZE announce their reunion - 2008/06/12

Some two years after their split, AUTUMNBLAZE announce their resurrection - in the classic line-up of their album "Bleak" (2000). Alongside his former companions Arisjel and Schwadorf (The Vision Bleak, Empyrium amongst others), the band's mastermind Markus B. a.k.a. Eldron is looking forward to a creative future with his long-term main band.
A new AUTUMNBLAZE album carrying the working title "We Had To Burn Our Fucking Kingdom" is already in the making and is scheduled for recording at Klangschmiede Studio E this autumn. Lyric-wise, the band is going to pick up where the philosophy of "DämmerElbenTragödie" and "Bleak" left off, while in musical terms, you can expect the heaviest and most varied AUTUMNBLAZE album yet.

ARCTIC PLATEAU - this is the nom de plume of Gianluca Divirgilio, an Italian musician with an incredible sense for epic arrangements and song structures whose first recordings offer timeless music between the poles of Post Rock, Shoegaze and Indie. Gianluca himself describes the compositions of ARCTIC PLATEAU as 'explicitly dreamed music', and we can't think of any better description for the music of this one-man project. For their recent album "Knell", Swiss ensemble NUCLEUS TORN is receiving a grant (about 1,000 Euro) from the office for cultural promotion of the city of Biel. The Biel municipality supports professional artists from all fields by means of financial contributions to help creative artists realise a project, a work of art, or to encourage their artistic development. SOL INVICTUS signs contract with Auerbach Tontraeger - 2008/03/06

The beginning of spring brings good news for all fans of classic Folk noir: Mastermind Tony Wakeford's legendary British band SOL INVICTUS have signed a contract with Auerbach on the group's back catalogue and future releases. "Prophecy Productions/Auerbach is a rarity. A label that has, and deserves, its good reputation. I am very happy that Sol Invictus have found a home here," Wakeford explains his decision to go with the German label, adding, "Now can I have my cat returned to me as promised."
Fans will be familiar with the trademark black humour of the man who after a wild life - as a member of the cult Punk band Crisis and one of the founders of the ever mysterious Death In June, among other things - founded his own project SOL INVICTUS back in 1987. Under the banner of this ancient Roman solar deity, the last 20 years have seen more than a dozen albums charting a musical progression from raw, post-punk Dark Folk to ever more refined arrangements with influences from Early Music, Classical, Ambient, and Jazz. With changing musical collaborators, Wakeford presents in his unmistakable voice pessimistic visions that are equally inspired by ancient myths, modern writers, and deeply personal reflections on (the sorrows of) love and the vanity of things.
Many SOL INVICTUS albums today stand as landmarks of their genre, Tony Wakeford is considered one of the founding fathers of Apocalyptic Folk alongside Douglas P. of Death In June and David Tibet of Current 93. After some of their records have been deleted for years, Auerbach are pleased to present all studio albums by SOL INVICTUS in beautifully done re-editions to fans old and new. His future works will also attest to the fact that Mr. Wakeford hasn't lost his punch and that the original is always better than any copy.
